        The Kota Kinabalu Municipal Mosque is located on the banks of Likas Bay and is a typical contemporary Islamic building. It is one of the most magnificent mosques with sunset views in Malaysia. It was built on an artificial lake in Licas Bay, giving it a feeling of floating on the surface of the water, hence earning the title of '; Water Mosque” The nickname. The mosque was built in 1997, covering an area of one hectare and can accommodate up to 12000 worshippers for prayer.
