【Project Background】

The project is located on an artificial island in a lagoon along the Adriatic Sea coast in northeastern Italy, Venice. The local water network is dense, but transportation is inconvenient.

 

Connecting style: blending local elements

The total length of the Gondola floating bridge is 153 meters, and the overall design is based on; Elegant and Romantic; As a concept, it embodies the title of Venice's renowned romantic capital. The boat tilts upwards at both ends, resembling a new moon hanging on the horizon, imitating the shape of the governor's (the highest administrative official of the Republic) hat. The bow: Six forward square teeth symbolize the six districts of Venice. One backward square tooth represents Zhudaika Island. (In history, it was a large palace garden area in Venice.)

 

Floating bridge function: pedestrian and vehicle passage

The standard cross-sectional layout of the bridge deck of the Gondola floating bridge is 2m (pedestrian walkway)+2m (bicycle lane)=4m, divided into two linear sections for cycling and slow walking, with various scenarios and atmospheres interwoven on the bridge deck.

 

The Venetian Gondola Floating Bridge is a dynamic integrated floating bridge that integrates transportation, landscape, and culture. The construction of floating bridges ensures the continuity of transportation and ecological landscape of artificial islands in the lagoon, forming a harmonious and unified slow-moving system, thereby improving the environmental quality of the artificial island area in the lagoon. Its construction meets the needs of local residents for tourism, leisure, and sightseeing.
